Estelle Grengs

As a self-taught artist, Estelle follows her instincts and draws from a place that has no words. Her style radiates of color, shape and texture. She is drawn to the simple things in life that bring happiness and a feeling of joy. It could be as simple as the way a ladybug crawls up the stem of a flower or as complex as the emotion a fisherman shows as he hauls in his catch at the harbor. Either way she sees these moments in color, and it fuels her imagination for future works of art. From these moments, she wants her designs to make people think “what if” as they already know “what is”. Her connection with the audience is important. Estelle wants them to see and feel a sense of happiness and joy from her designs. The ultimate compliment is when she hears an onlooker say, “Your art makes me feel happy!”.

Using palate knife and brush, Estelle’s medium of choice is heavy-bodied acrylics. She loves the versatility they have and appreciates the forgiving nature of their drying time. Acrylics also offer a vast array of colors in which to work.

Estelle lives in Freeport, Florida with her husband, Matt.
